Hailing from New Haven, Conn., 506 is challenging the musical tastes of their surrounding community. They started out as a worship band and grew from there. Chief songwriter and lead singer of the group, Denise Cruz, is driven by her own personal experiences. “I went through a really dark time in my life, where I struggled to just believe in God. His existence seemed a mystery to me. That is where most of my writing comes from." No one would have guessed that God would lead these kids, who played and sang on their church worship teams, to form a rock band. They incorporate many of the sounds they grew up listening to into their music. You will hear traces of worship, latin, jazz, pop, reggae, and even funk laced throughout their music, truly making them a "rock influenced fusion band."
